Marc by Marc Jacobs rocked the GCC with a series of Rockabilly themed retro events – in Jeddah, Manama, and Dubai – to celebrate the SS13 collection! The Rockabilly parties focused on the fun energy of the 80’s, mixed with the spirit of 50’s during the birth of Rock-n-roll.
The Rockabilly movement of the 1950’s merged with the 80’s pop and post punk scene, in a burst of defiance, energy and optimism. From ready-to-wear to accessories, the Spring Summer 2013 collection presents 50s inspired silhouettes and the mood brightening color prism of the 1980’s.
At Dubai’s MBMJ event, models wore the Spring Summer 2013 collection and roller skated around to the sounds of 80’s new wave beats by DJ Rob Turner. Mona Fares, local artist and designer, created a piece of art inspired by the Marc by Marc Jacobs SS13 collection. Guests participated by assisting Mona in the creation of her colorful masterpiece.
Guests enjoyed a taste of a classic American cuisine – mini hotdogs, mac and cheese, mini burgers, candy cones, cake pops, and roller skate cookies kept guests happily munching! Neon bright sodas, Classic Coke bottles, creamy chocolate and strawberry milk-shakes were the chosen drinks of the night!
Guests customized their own MBMJ 80s style apparel buttons and also received a limited edition “Marc by Marc Jacobs loves Dubai” slap bracelet. The store was decorated with disco lights, cartoon-esque pop art speakers, and balloons!
